Recording Studio

COBRA Music Studios is a contemporary recording studio specialising in traditional styles of music. We are integrated into the heart of the Riverfront Theatre and Arts Centre in Newport, South Wales which is conveniently located within a 2 minute walk of Newport Bus Station and a 6 minute walk from Newport Train Station, with direct routes to Cardiff, Bristol and London.

In the control room of the studio, we have a mixture of analogue and digital equipment, utilising hybrid recording techniques to get the best sound for your recording. At the helm of the control room is our dual Slate Raven MTi system, which is always a talking point with clients. The studio live room presents a beautiful intimate space, that is perfect for capturing and expressing your creativity. Ambient lighting creates the perfect atmosphere for both recording and writing sessions, and our bespoke gobos and acoustic panels from Blue Frog Audio in North Wales creating the perfect tone.

We are fortunate to have a fantastic internal infrastructure within the Riverfront Theatre, which allows us to link into each of the spaces within the building, directly from the control room of the studio. These spaces include: the main auditorium, studio theatre and dance studio. Each of the spaces have their own acoustic character, and provide our clients with a truly unique sound for their recordings. This flexibility also means that we are uniquely placed to house larger in-house sessions, as well as provide a full recording service for productions happening at the Riverfront Theatre. The Studio Theatre at the Riverfront houses a beautiful Welmar Baby Grand Piano and the Main Auditorium houses a Steinway Concert Grand.
